Attorney Amanda Col贸n is a Board Certified Specialist in Marital and Family Law. Board Certified Marital and Family lawyers are specialists who handle legal problems and civil suits arising from the family relationships of husbands, wives, parents and children. Marital and family law includes pretrial and trial processes and handling and resolving controversies before, during and after the filing and resolution of lawsuits.

- Practiced law full-time for at least five years with 50 percent or more of the practice dedicated to marital and family law;
- Been involved in at least 25 contested marital and family law cases in circuit courts during the five years preceding application for certification;
- Demonstrated substantial involvement in interviewing clients, counseling, preparing pleadings, discovery, taking testimony, presenting evidence, negotiating settlements, drafting and preparing settlement agreements and handling the trial of marital and family law cases, including appeals;
- Received favorable confidential peer review;
- Completed 75 hours of continuing legal education within the five years preceding application; and
- Passed a rigorous written examination.
Born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Amanda Col贸n has lived in Pasco County for over 30 years. She is a graduate of River Ridge High School in New Port Richey.
Amanda obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors from the University of Florida in Gainesville, majoring in Criminology. She continued on to the University of Florida College of Law where she obtained her Juris Doctorate, graduating with Honors.
As a former Prosecutor and Assistant Attorney General, Attorney Col贸n has substantial experience in a broad range of criminal matters. She handled hundreds of cases including misdemeanors, felonies, violations of probation, and cases involving domestic violence issues and injunctions. Ms. Col贸n also instructed for the Florida Prosecuting Attorney鈥檚 Association.
As a Senior Assistant Attorney General, Amanda Col贸n represented the State of Florida in Criminal Appeals, Jimmy Ryce Appeals (involuntary civil committment of sexually violent predators), and argued before the Second District Court of Appeal.
Ms. Col贸n is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator, offering people the opportunity to settle their divorce, paternity, or post-judgment disputes. Attorney Col贸n is currently an appointed member of the Grievance Committee for the Sixth Circuit, assisting in the investigation of ethical complaints against local attorneys. Ms. Col贸n serves the Courts as a Guardian Ad Litem for Pasco and Pinellas County Family Law cases. Amanda is a member of the Clearwater Bar Association, and is a past Director and Treasurer of the West Pasco Bar Association as well as its current Vice President. In addition to being active in her local bar association, Attorney Col贸n is also a member of the Continuing Legal Education Committee and Publications Committee of the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar.
As a former Adjunct Professor for Pasco Hernando Community College, Amanda taught Legal Issues in Information Technology, and Family Law. She volunteered her time to Pasco County鈥檚 Drug Court program and served as a Hearing Master for Juvenile Arbitration cases. Amanda also participated in the Justice Teaching Initiative, teaching and working with the students of Pasco County Schools.
After serving the residents of the State of Florida for more than five years, Ms. Col贸n opened her firm in October of 2006, handling both Criminal and Family matters. Ms.Col贸n became Board Certified in Marital and Family Law in 2010.聽Attorney Col贸n primarily practices in Pasco, Pinellas, Hernando and Hillsborough Counties, but is available for consultation for cases in surrounding counties.
